NGC Featured Registry Set: Redfield Morgan and Peace Dollars

Posted on 6/13/2023

In anticipation of the new Morgan and Peace Dollar releases this summer, this month’s featured set, belonging to beckes, showcases 1878-1935 Morgan and Peace Dollars.

This month we present a leading NGC Registry set featuring the ever-popular Morgan and Peace Dollars. With the upcoming US Mint release of 2023 Morgan and Peace Uncirculated Dollars in July and Proof issues in August, collectors everywhere are excited to get their hands on the latest versions of these classic favorites. We will be releasing yet another Morgan and Peace Dollar NGC Registry set for the new issues soon! In honor of the anniversary issues released in 2021, we created a Morgan and Peace Dollar 100th Anniversary Set. With over 1,000 participants in this set alone, we expect the upcoming new NGC Registry set to be extremely popular as well.

In anticipation of the new releases, this month we feature a #1 set — a Redfield Holders, Morgan and Peace Dollars, 1878-1935, Including Varieties set — by beckes. Given that this set only allows Redfield Holders, completing the set is a challenge, even for the most determined, experienced collector. Winner of several Best in Category awards and a 2022 Best Classic Set, this set boasts an impressive number of Top Pop coins: 18 in total. Be sure to check out his gallery for some truly lovely examples.

Beckes began assembling this collection back in 2018 and has been slowly expanding and upgrading ever since. He currently sits at 55% completion with over 64,000 points. Fast on his heels is the number two set, JW’s REDFIELDS, by Gerald Waters. Gerald is also at 55% completion and has been upgrading his set as recently as last month. Gerald is currently sitting at over 57,000 points. Who knows what will happen with these two top sets when the 2023 NGC Registry awards deadline clock stops ticking?

Thank you, beckes, for sharing your incredible Redfield collection for all the NGC collecting community to enjoy. We look forward to seeing what updates happen next for you as 2023 draws closer to an end.

Would you like your set to be featured in a future article? 100% completion in a set is not always feasible. Perhaps, we will choose someone whose set has a personal story behind it or some interesting historical facts. We are looking for those sets where someone has taken the time to make the set unique and a reflection of his/her personal collecting style. It may be your set! Stay tuned.
