Uram, a previous ANA Governor and CCAC Chairman, is also part of the NGC Signature Series program.

Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) congratulates Thomas J. Uram upon his election to serve as the 63rd President of the American Numismatic Association (ANA). Uram is the President of the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists (PAN) and previous chairman of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC).

Founded in 1891, the ANA is a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization that promotes the study and collection of coins, paper money and other numismatic items. As incoming ANA president, Uram has pledged to keep the ANA’s focus on members’ interests. He will be inducted August 11th during the ANA World’s Fair of Money in Pittsburgh, PA.

“I am excited to serve as the next president of the American Numismatic Association and be an ambassador for coin enthusiasts everywhere,” said Uram. “As I embark on this new role, I look forward to helping to foster an even more vibrant numismatic community.”

Uram has a record of achievement with the ANA over nearly half a century. Beginning as an ANA junior member in 1974, within two years, he became an ANA Life Member. After serving as ANA Governor, he was the first numismatist to be honored with the ANA’s Chester L. Krause Memorial Distinguished Service Award. Uram was presented with the Glenn Smedley Award in 2019 and the Medal of Merit in 2020 for his efforts that have brought awareness to numismatics.

When he was a young numismatist, he worked on projects under the supervision of Florence Schook. He has also participated in the ANA David R. Cervin Ancient Coin Project, volunteered as a page and contributed to the ANA Summer Seminar.

During his time as CCAC Chairman, he advised Treasury Secretaries and led the initiative to pass the 1921 Silver Dollar Coin Anniversary Act (H.R. 6192). In large part due to Uram’s vigorous advocacy, the legislation was signed into law on January 5, 2021. The law brought about the minting of modern Morgan and Peace Dollars, a program embraced by collectors.

Uram worked for MetLife for 38 years, specializing in estate planning and charitable giving. Since 2021, he has been among those who exclusively hand-sign certification labels through the NGC Signature Series program.
