Thomas J. Uram served as Chairman of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC), which has considerable influence in US numismatics because it advises the Secretary of the Treasury on designs for coins and medals.
He led the initiative to pass the 1921 Silver Dollar Coin Anniversary Act (H.R. 6192). The Act authorized the mintage of new Morgan and Peace Dollars in 2021 to mark the 100th anniversary of the last year that Morgan Dollars were issued for circulation and the first year that Peace Dollars were issued for circulation, and it allows the Mint to produce these coins as an annual series.
