NGC Expert Comments:
Few traditions in numismatics carry the charm and history of Maundy money—small silver alms distributed annually by British monarchs since the reign of Charles II. Alabamaman1969’s type set is a beautifully realized tribute to this tradition, with one coin of each denomination (1p, 2p, 3p, 4p) from every monarch since 1660. It’s a 64-coin journey through royal portraiture and ceremony, now 87% complete and growing. Most of the coins are uncirculated, but several are downright spectacular—Edward VII issues in MS67 and MS68 are particular highlights. This collection brings together beauty, scarcity, and deep historical resonance. A heartfelt and highly refined accomplishment.
