Finally finished this set, and when placing all the pieces side by side, it certainly is a joy and a set I could look at all day!
We initially got a roll of these quarter eagles from great grand dad eons ago. All were 1906. I decided to take 3 from the end and have them encapsulated. Wow! Two 6's and a 5! Haven't even bothered to see what the rest of the roll looks like. Taking it a step further, I decided to build a set of 20th century Coronet Quarter Eagles around the 1906, as an addition to the family heirlooms for future family generations to also enjoy. None of the years are extremely scarce, so if one is patient, very nice examples can be found. The goal of the other pieces in this set was to have good full strike, nice color and luster, and good overall eye appeal. I'm sure Great Grand Dad is smiling.Read more...
The “short set” of Coronet Liberty Quarter Eagles includes all of the coins from 1900 through the end of the series in 1907. These dates are delightfully collectible in higher grades, and this set presents gem examples of each entry. The owner has provided photos, and the commentary accompanying each coin reveals a true appreciation of their unique aspects. Easily the standout specimen is the 1902 certified as NGC MS 68! But it is as a cohesive group that these coins possess their greatest charm, and the owner has truly transmitted this.
