Are retail values realistic for modern commemorative dollars, as listed in Coin World's monthly COINValues magazine? Just click on each coin's description to see how far below COINValue's pricing I was able to purchase the coin (already slabbed by NGC). I think you'll soon realize why sellers on sites such as eBay love to quote COINValues prices when auctioning their modern commemoratives.
Update: In 2006, I was up-to-date with this set and there were no current COINValues for the new issues as I acquired them.
Somehow, I've managed to keep the set current, even though the U.S. Mint has since turned the commemorative program into a novelty shop of "woke" designs, domed & colorized & privy-marked gimmicks, and limited-edition pseudo-rarieties - not unlike the Royal Canadian Mint's offerings.
I almost quit when the U.S. Mint came out with that five-ounce monstrosity in 2019 for the Apollo program.
