I became interest in this cohort of coins when I found the WWI commemoratives. I was fascinated with the imagery and wanted to pay homage to my grandfather who served in WWI and was shot through the neck but survived.
I had two uncles in WWII, one a belly gunner with missions over Germany and one a Marine (not sure where he served ... I am also named after him). My son is a Marine so the collection fits perfect into my family heritage ... WWI, WWII, and the USMC.
