The vision common to each of this collection's Kennedy type sets is to chronicle the life of a coin born from a profound national tragedy. In early 1964, the Kennedy Half Dollar was rushed into production as a grieving nation’s tribute—a silver promise that the memory of a fallen President would remain a tangible part of American life. For everyday Americans in 1964, holding this coin was a way to touch history; it was a memorial that lived in the pocket.
Spanning 1964 through 2025, this collection, a work-in-progress, maps the coin's journey from its era as a commercial workhorse to its modern transition into annual mint and collector sets. The focus remains strictly on non-proof uncirculated strikes—including standard clad, silver, Satin, and Enhanced finishes—but intentionally excluding hyper-premium specialty formats like Reverse Proofs and the 2014 Gold issue.
