The 20th Century was the era where the Unit of One was broken. The Forensic Transition is a side-by-side audit of the Proof and Business strikes that defined the most volatile hundred years in monetary history.
This archive documents the Metallurgical Surrender. We track the timeline from the high-resolution 'Old World' Silver of the Barber and Morgan era, through the 'Artistic Zenith' of the Saint-Gaudens and Walking Liberty designs, and finally into the 1965 'Clad' extraction. By including both Proofs and Non-Proofs, we are contrasting the 'Perfect Mirror' of the state's intent with the 'Friction-Worn' reality of the street.
While others see a century of progress, we see a century of Hardware Degradation. This set reveals the moment the 'Hard Money' circuit was cut and replaced with industrial base-metal tokens.
