I often stroll down memory lane when I recall the EARLY years of this series. The year 1964 is my favorite year of the entire Kennedy Series. I remember pedaling my bicycle 5o stores and the local gas station to ask the cashier if there were any silver half dollars in the cash register. Often I could come home with a Franklin HALF or 1964 Kennedy.
I prefer a nicely color toned business stike Kennedy Half Dollar, if I can find one I like. I am a big fan of NGC Star designated coins.The 1964 Kennedy Half presents the collector's best opportunity for acquiring a nice toner. There were so many minted, and nearly all were hoarded. Sometimes a coin would tone beautifully after years of storage in an album.
It is interesting how few business strike Kennedy Halfs earned an NGC Star, rela5ive to 5he huge number of coins in the population reports. NGC seems to have been very conservative in assigning a Star to an early business strike Kennedy, which is a good thing.
