For someone born in 1986, I actually remember the ‘80’s remarkably well. Most of what I remember was living in Portland, Oregon, before my family moved to Las Vegas in ‘89. I have several memories centered around our blue suburban house; our little yellow car and station wagon; a random swamp where my family spent a day; the Columbia River; our local church; and a snowy hillside.
Of course, I remember growing up in the 90’s, in four different neighborhoods, even better. I had a childhood that was both fun and eventful.
Before I was around, the 20th century was, without a doubt, the most pivotal for mankind. Technology went from just a few steps beyond the Bronze Age to space exploration. There were people born one hundred years before I, who saw transportation go from trains and covered wagons to airplanes and automobiles.
Though saturated with conflict, the 20th century has, by far, the most significant landmarks for development since the invention of the wheel.
Representing some of this tremendous history are these coins from throughout the century. I hope you enjoy viewing this partial set any time you wish, from a most significant compilation of generations.
