I’m pretty happy with the silver type sets I’ve put together, dating back to the Seated designs, and I’ve completed the small-cents type set. Instead of doing something silly with my money, like putting more into retirement or something ridiculous like that, I decided to set out on the adventure that is collecting nickels.
From the start of this set, my strategy was to bypass the trend of acquiring the highest affordable grades of typical dates and mint origins for the pre-Jefferson classics; and, instead, shoot for circulated examples of coins as close to the keys as I could afford.
As a result, I’m building a very expensive, low-scoring set. However, I’m not doing this to compete for first place, as I’m pretty sure each of the fifty sets on the first page are well out of my financial range. Rather, this strategy was conceived in order to assemble a unique set within my budget, after quite some time, and plenty of overtime, and sticking with this dedication has yielded immense mental triumph.
As I close in on completion, it is my most sincere wish that you enjoy what is assembled here (and that NGC revises the scoring structure for these types).
