The American Eagle coins weigh a full troy ounce composed of 99.9% fine silver, making it one of the most attractive and distinguished pieces minted by the United States. Its "Walking Liberty" design is based on the classic 1916 half dollar design, by Adolph Weinman.
This set features Type-1 proof issues of the iconic American Silver Eagle, minted from 1986 to 2021. The Type-1 reverse was designed by John M. Mercanti, the U.S. Mint's 12th Chief Engraver and perhaps its most prolific designer. I highly recommend Mercanti's publication, "American Silver Eagles - A Guide to the U.S. Bullion Coin Program". It's a must-have for any serious ASE collector!
