I’ll start by stating that I thoroughly enjoy collecting the modern commemorations; from States to Women. For one thing, it gives me something to do while waiting for my clothes at the laundromat.
But my favorite part about them is that they are recruiting new generations of collectors; many of which might not otherwise develop an interest in coins. And best of all: they’re only 25 cents apiece.
Speaking personally, my interest in quarters slightly pre-dates the State type. My name is Daniel, and I was born in 1986. If you couldn’t figure that out from my collector name, then I’m glad I could save you the private investigator fees. That said, I was 10 years too late to witness the parades and general celebrations for our 200 years as a nation. But y’all classic citizens did leave us the coins, and the bicentennial quarter has always been one of my favorites.
