When I was a kid, I didn’t understand why dimes, with a higher face value, were smaller than nickels and pennies. That question was answered for me when I started working at 7-Eleven. My five years working there landed me a diverse foreign-coin collection, a few gem clads, and silver that got me through many rainy days. Everything from pre-‘65 Roosevelt dimes to silver Eagles were spent there at face value (which I bought out of the register at face value as soon as my guests went on their ways).
My collecting passion was launched into full swing from those years, and it all started with the dimes storied under the ‘59 Roosevelt here.
