How this all got started can be found in the individual owner comments of my 1971-S Eisenhower dollar, and my 1959 Roosevelt dime.
My motivation for the extensiveness of my original collection, sadly, was a bad gambling addiction. I wanted something to show for my winnings (before I inevitably lost them), and solid assets with a personal interest seemed to be the answer. I have a few coins that survived that ultimate liquidation, and most of the others have been purchased since 2023. Thanks to the grace of God, the gambling problem has dissolved.
My first addition to this revised and growing collection was my ‘47-D Walking half, which was a Christmas gift from my parents. Having appreciated by over 60% in value since the time of purchase, it sure turned out to be a very nice present. After leisurely adding a couple more to my collection over a few years, the dormant coin bug was fully awakened. I went from the entirety of my collection fitting into a shoe box at the end of ‘23, to the need for shelves and a few safes since then.
Whether you take the time to read my owner comments, or you do as I mostly do with other collections (because most owner comments are dry descriptions) and just flip through the gallery: I hope you enjoy my collection. I certainly do tangibly, along with the thousands of others in raw flips and albums. Building a collection has resulted in a personal museum that I can visit whenever I wish.
