A well deserved tribute to these two iconic coins. I never believed that there would be either a Morgan or Peace dollar found in MS 70, so here we are! These are not rare coins, and I will complete this set, but the some of the other sets have priority. I have completed Morgan and Peace Dollar sets, and upgrade them occasionally when I run across a good coin at a bargain price. With that sort of strategy I should get my grand childern interested in completing those sets at the higher levels I envision for them.
This set is more within my reach, and that's why it was completed before the more ambitious endeavors in the Morgan and Peace Dollar arenas. I guess that's what coin collecting is really all about, it's not so much the finish, as it is the chase. I'll tell you one thing tho, the 1928 Peace Dollar and 1893 s Morgan Dollar wore alot of my "chase" out! But the fun goes on . . .
These coins were created for the collector and are not in excess supply. Most of these coins were produced in lots under 250,000 but few under 100,000 so they are relatively expensive, but with one exception in the hundreds of dollars and not the thousands. The one exception is the 2021 d Morgan which approaches 4 digits. The 1921 d Morgan Dollar was the only Morgan Dollar struck in Denver until the modern series came out.
NGC labels these as "competitive" sets and ranks them. Perhaps competition in this sense is really competition with yourself to see if you can accomplish this task. In this case, NGC ranks this set #1 and the slots are 100% filled.
