The Nazi German 1 Reichspfennig Coin was produced at different mints between the periods of 1936 and 1945. The coin's front side features the numerical value "1" placed centrally within the design. Around the mint mark located at both the top and bottom, there are two oak leaves representing the unit of currency.
From 1936 to 1939, this copper coin was minted. However, in 1940, there were changes made to its composition as it started being made from zinc instead. Similarly, alterations were also made to its reverse image.
Both versions of the reverse image display Germany's coat of arms. In their earlier form (from 1936-1939), a large wreath composed of oak surrounds a swastika beneath an eagle clutching arrows and a small shield with a cross on it. Below this symbolization, "Deutches Reich," along with the year denoting where it was minted, appears towards its base in written format. When modified in 1940 for this side of the coin, adjustments included reducing the size proportions for both wreath and swastika while placing "Deutches Reich" above them instead; furthermore, the date indication alone moved to occupy space below these symbols.
