I like the early years of the Kennedy series, 1964-1970. The Kennedy collector can find much diversity of interest within this series. The more you dig in and learn about this series the more fascinating they become. I have focused on the 1964 - 1970 Kennedy short set for my collecting interests. The years of 1964 -1970 are the golden age of the Kennedy Series in my humble opinion.
There is much diversity in this short set to whet the appetite of half dollar collectors. Within the business strike population a collector might discover PL ( proof like ) coins that are very rare for most years & are non-existant for many or most other years. Nicely color toned coins fuel the interest of some collectors. And within the short SMS series nice Cameo & even Ultra-Cameo specimans can make things interesting. The 1964 Accent Hair varsity, although not as rare as it is sometimes hyped to be, have an interesting history and quite a following among collectors.
I have tried to showcase some nice color toned business strikes and some black/white proofs. There are a couple of rare PL business strikes and a rare DPL in the mix. Throw in some SMS half dollars with ultra cameo finishes and you have a lot going on with the Kennedy series.
I am very fond of NGC STAR designated coins. NGC STAR CAMEOS are some of my favorite coins. I have never seen a Star coin yet that I did not like. My collecting goal has been to display some coins from my collection that are unique or different from most of the coins in the population. I hope I have met my goal.
