PERIOD 1 California Fractional Gold Coinage is the only true circulating coinage of the Gold Rush.
PERIOD 2 and PERIOD 3 coins have many beautiful coins, but they were souvenirs and jewelry, and never circulated.
We have researched the 140 or so varieties of PERIOD 1 California Fractional Gold coins and have eliminated much of the redundancy of many coins. There are many identical or similar looking coins within the group, differentiated by denomination and/or the addition or deletion of a star, variation of a wreath, or other minor change.
By doing so, we feel that a very strong, important and well represented set can be assembled with about 30 coins, plus or minus what the collector personally likes best.
There are quite a few unique and exceptionally rare coins that will not permit many collectors to complete the entire set.
This condensed strategy will permit near full representation of PERIOD 1 California Fractional types while also exciting and enticing collectors to the great space of CALIFORNIA FRACTIONAL GOLD.
