Instead of collecting additional series beyond my Sacagawea Dollar and Peace Dollar series, I decided to start a few Type Sets. This would give me an opportunity to explore a wide range of coins series without committing to trying to assemble just one series.
While exploring NGC’s Type Set listings I came upon the Carson City Type Set. The history and allure of the Carson City Mint and the old west has piqued the interest of many collectors as well as mine. After researching and reading further I thought it would be enjoyable to work on a modest mid-grade set. Since coins were meant for use in daily life, I like mid-grade coins as they tell the story. Also, budget comes into play as well. The NGC Type Set does not include the 2021 Morgan CC Privacy, but I have one in MS-70 that I consider as part of the set.
