Yes, we baby boomers remember that sad day in November, 1963. How could we ever forget? Sixty years have now come & gone, and yet that day is seared into our collective memories as the day our generation lost it's youthful innocence. Most of us left home for school that morning , never realizing how our lives would be changed by the time we came home from school. For some of us, the world would never quite be the same . The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars became something of a memorial or a keepsake dedicated to the memory of our young president. That is probably one of the main reasons why the 1964 issue never saw widespread circulation, but were universally hoarded. Every issue of the early coins bring memories of my youth. This short set is an exercise in nostalgia for me. Each year of the early Kennedy series holds special memories for me; whether it be that special girl I was sweet on , a certain muscle car that saw production for that year or even a song that saw a lot of play on the AM radio. Perhaps I am not alone in that. I suspect a great many other baby-boomers are interested in this series for that very same reason. Nostalgia seems to be what directs my collecting interests.
