We specialize in collecting obscure unusual varieties of coins, which rarely warrant having an individual category slot assigned. The NGC Registry team has kindly honored all of our requests to display these items under the normal date slots, which we do appreciate. However, since many of these odd varieties are extremely rare, the coins are usually not very high grade, and so casual viewers may simply ignore them when looking through the collection list. What appears to be a very common date/mint in fairly low grade may actually be the second finest example of some extremely rare and interesting variety.
Therefore, we're going to start posting ALERTS in the top general comments of some sets in order to point out these hidden treasures so that interested viewers can take a look.
