The weight change that occurred in 1853 for most of the silver denominations, combined with the fact that all legally authorized denominations were struck this year, resulted in a number of different denominations, types and mintmarks for this year, with the various issues ranging from very common to extremely rare. These are the certified pieces I currently have dated 1853. I own a number of the others, most significant examples of the half dime and dime without arrows, which I might have certified some day.
