The United States Mint American Liberty Program celebrates modern renditions of the iconic Liberty that embody the ideals of freedom and equality first set forth in our Declaration of Independence. On Aug. 23 2016 the US Mint launched the two 1-ounce, .999 fine silver medal versions of the 2015 $100 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin. The 2017 Liberty features a modern rendition of this iconic figure. The obverse displays a profile of Liberty wearing a crown of stars. The reverse displays a bold and powerful eagle in flight, with eyes toward opportunity and a determination to attain it. The 2019 obverse (heads) features Liberty with 13 rays of light emanating along her headdress, symbolizing the free and creative spirit of America's people. The reverse (tails) features a bald eagle as it prepares to land.
