The 1881 Mint Set is made up of 22 different coins, 4 of which are rare. Rarest and most expensive by far is the 1881 $20 Gold Double Eagle with just 73 grading submissions received by PCGS and NGC combined. Second rarest would be the 1881 $2.50 Quarter Eagle which had a total mintage of just 640 pieces. Third rarest is the 1881-CC $5 gold Half Eagle and 4th rarest is the 1881 $3.00 Gold coin which had a total mintage of only 500 pieces.
