There are only 19 slots required to complete the 1863 Mint Set, but filling those slots has been surprisingly tough. Only 3 coins have surviving populations that exceed 500 coins in all grades. The remaining 16 coins are all scarce to exceedingly rare. Rarest coin of the set is the 1863 $10 Gold Eagle with only 30-45 survivors known.
My coins in this set that deserve special mention are:
Fewest (85) grading submissions - 1863 AU-58 gold dollar
Most valuable - 1863 MS-62 $3 gold piece
Great Eye Appeal - 1863 MS-61 Quarter Dollar
