The 1862 Mint Set is made up of 20 different coins. The set is difficult to complete because seven dates are rare and have surviving populations of less than 200 pieces. The rarest two coins are the 1862-S and 1862 $5 Half eagles, each with less than 100 known survivors. The most common coin is the 1862 gold dollar with 6,200 survivors followed by the 1862 Indianhead cent with 5,500 survivors.
My coins in this set that merit special mention are:
Fewest (415) grading submissions - 1862 MS-64 Seated Dime
Most valuable - 1862 MS-62 $3 Gold piece
Best eye appeal - 1862 MS-64 Indianhead cent
