1962 is my birth year. In 1962, John F. Kennedy was president of the United States... coins were still made of silver, The Four Seasons topped the charts with "Sherry" and in that year John Glenn became the first American astronaut to orbit Earth. In the early 1960's, life in America was pretty much the same as it had been since the end of World War II - but it was the dawn of the Space Age, it was the advent of computing, and it was the beginning of a societal change that would rock this country to it's very core. During this time, I lived the life of the America envisioned by Norman Rockwell; I played Little League baseball, I had a paper route, I was a boy scout. At home there were three channels on a fuzzy black and white television, cowboy shows, Flintstones and Yogi the Bear. I rode my bike all over my little hometown, happily oblivious of the changing times. In this set, the likenesses of our founding fathers are reverently and beautifully engraved.
