Superb proof Barber halves are destined for tremendous increases in collector demand in the years to come. While all the proof Barber coinage is either very scarce, rare, or very rare in exceptional high grade cameo proof, the dimes and half dollars are considerably more elusive than the quarters.
Being the largest coin of the Barber series, the half dollars have special appeal to collectors. While there are a handful of dates in the series that currently may have only moderate rarity in gem cameo, the majority of dates are quite rare.
The owner of this set assembled the set with the same parameters as used to assemble the #1 ranked proof Morgan set - seeking those proof Barber halves that were not only of very high grade, but also were among the earliest strikes off new proof dies, preserved as nearly as possible to their original "as struck" look.
While every coin in this set is outstanding for its respective date, the favorits of the owner, based on rarity and eye-appeal for their respective issue, are: 1893, 1895, 1896, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1903, 1904, 1905, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1913, 1914, and 1915.
