My love for Hungarian coinage came from a discovery in a pawn shop many years ago. I was looking through a box of mixed raw world coins and I came across a small copper coin that was unmistakably Hungarian. It was an XF example of the krajczár type of 1878-1888. I was buying some other silver coins so they gave me that coin for free.
I realized on some level that Hungary had to have had classic coinage, but this coin really interested me. I started looking up other classic Hungarian types and eventually it became the primary focus of my collections, switching me from a US collector to a world collector. In my journey to pursue this coinage I learned a great deal about my Hungarian heritage, the language, the culture, and by extension, myself.
My target grade for this set is MS64 RB, with a minimum acceptable grade of MS64 BN. In many cases I have exceeded this target, and I have made one allowance for an MS63 BN for the difficult 1883 example.
I hope you enjoy this date set and can see the beauty as I do in these simple yet elegant designs.
