This is one of my Austrian corona date sets that I assembled to accompany my Hungarian korona date sets. While I am going for the best possible grade, as with my other sets I place a higher value on unique eye appeal and prooflike surfaces over the grade. For my prooflike examples, please see Jaelus' Prooflike Austrian Coronas (1892-1908), as they are in this separate set.
I pursued these Austrian sets because I find an understanding of Hungarian coinage from this period cannot be achieved without an accompanying understanding of the Austrian coinage. As the coinage of both states were planned jointly and circulated together within the empire, only through an understanding of both the Austrian and Hungarian issues together does a clear picture emerge.
