I've always been fascinated by the Morgan dollar since my dad gave me an 1899-0 when I was about 10. I liked the heft and size of the coin as well as the fact that it was made out of silver and reminded me of the Old West. I was also born in New Orleans and liked the fact that it was minted near my home. Also, my grandfather immigrated from Italy to New Orleans in 1899 and that coin gave me some connection to that time when he was 7 years old. He could have had it in his pocket.
One of the pure joys in life is searching for these Morgans. It's a treasure hunt pure and simple.
