Seeking to put together a nice Set of Gem quality Proofs with nice eye appeal, seeking nice mirrors and coins that look good in hand. So many even 65 and 66 proofs are very dark and need to be held up to a light at just the right angle just to look ok. My floor is PF64, but they must be very PQ 64's would prefer PF65 and up. This is quite a challenge as each was produced with very small mintages, the largest and only issue with over 1000 is the 1892 Dime with a mintage of 1,245, and the lowest is the 1914 Dime at 425. To put these small mintage figures in perspective, the combined total mintage for all Barber Dimes ever produced 17,353 is significantly less than the mintage of 1942 Mercury Dimes at 22,329, a very small number itself when compared to even the 1950 Roosevelt Dime. On top of this many of these few produced where mishandled or improperly cleaned leaving just a small percentage that qualify as gems today.
