1954 was the last full year the U.S. Mint shipped Proof coinage in Box Sets, and their quality-control was still lacking. Finding blemish-free 1954 Proof coins can be a challenge. In the highest grades, they're getting expensive. But in slightly lower grades even Numismatic Newbies can afford to buy them. In 1955 the Mint would finally upgraded their Proof Set packaging - transitioning to a new Flat-Pack design. This Boyhood Dream year-set is the highest ranking 1954 Proof Set in the NGC Registry that doesn't include any cameos.

INTERESTING FACT: The U.S. Mint sold 233,300 Proof Sets in 1954, that's 1,166,500 Proof coins in total. But only 1,514 of those coins have survived in Proof 69-70 condition. That's 0.13%. There are no Proof 70s.
