In 1952 the U.S. Mint sold 81,980 Proof Sets, and their quality-control & packaging problems persisted. Finding high quality 1952 Proofs in any denomination is difficult, most are scratched, toned, pitted, milk-stained or damaged in some other way. High quality 1952 Proofs are getting expensive, but in lower grades even entry-level collectors can afford to own nice specimens. This year-set is the highest ranking 1952 Proof Set in the NGC Registry that doesn't include any cameos. Every coin in this Proof set is a standout!
Lincoln Cent - 13 graded higher
Jefferson Nickel - 9 graded higher
Roosevelt Dime - 4 graded higher
Washington Quarter - 1 graded higher
Franklin Half Dollar - 22 graded higher
INTERESTING FACT: In total the U.S. Mint manufactured 409,900 Proof coins in 1952. But only 479 of those coins have survived in Proof 69 condition. That's just 0.1%, and there are no Proof 70s.
1952 PROOF 69 SURVIVORS

Jefferson Nickels - 253
Roosevelt Dimes - 146
Washington Quarters - 50
Franklin Half Dollars - 19
