These Philly half eagles are truly underrated. In my search for nice original and undamaged pieces, I find many many of the more popular southern mint coins. The San Francisco and Carson City mint coins are almost, "common" due to the quantity being offered, compared to their Mother mint counterparts. The early Philadelphia pieces are extremely scarce. The years of 1841 & 1842 and 1849 & 1850, and a long run between 1858 -1877 are very tough with the exception of the 1861, and the 2 1873 variations.
