THIS SET IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF MY DAD.
MY FATHER GIFTED ME WITH A 1962 PROOF SET IN 1963. I WAS FASCINATED BY THE FRANKLIN HALF DOLLAR IN THE SET. I AM STILL FASCINATED BY PROOF FRANKLIN HALF DOLLARS 60 YEARS LATER. I'LL NEVER FORGET THE FIRST TIME I SAW A CAMEO PROOF FRANKLIN ON A BID BOARD IN THE EARLY 1970'S. THERE IS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT A FROSTED FRANKLIN HALF DOLLAR WITH DEEP MIRRORS. I STILL HAVE THAT ORIGINAL 1962 PROOF SET MY FATHER GAVE ME, BY THE WAY. THE FRANKLIN HALF SERIES RECALLS FOR ME A SIMPLER AND MORE INNOCENT TIME IN MY LIFE AND IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY.
I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ASSEMBLE A WORKING MAN'S SET OF FRANKLIN HALF DOLLARS THAT IS NEITHER ORDINARY NOR MUNDANE. I ENJOY COINS THAT HAVE THAT LITTLE EXTRA EYE APPEAL. FOR ME THAT USUALLY MEANS A COIN WITH DEEP MIRRORS AND NICELY FROSTED DEVICES.
