I have been working on this set since about 2011. In the beginning things were moving quickly and slots were being filled one after another. As I’m nearing the end it has been much harder to find the last several coins with good eye appeal.
My goal for each coin has been high eye appeal with no distracting marks for the grade, no haze and no unattractive or spotty toning.
There are currently at least two coins that I’d like to upgrade, not necessarily a higher technical grade, but higher eye appeal.
In the early years of building this set I thought that I would complete it and be done with it, moving on to different types. However, as I’m nearing completion I’m realizing it will probably be a lifelong endeavor for me to build the absolute best set that I possibly can, upgrading certain coins when nicer examples become available.
