A beautiful 1942 Proof Set in its entirety. This particular year was chosen due to its historical significance and for the departure of the iconic Walking Liberty Half-Dollar and Winged Liberty Head/"Mercury" Dime proof strikes. Additionally, Washington Quarter, Jefferson Nickel and Lincoln Wheat Cent proofs would not resume mintage until 1950. In other words, 1942 would be the last year Proof Sets would contain both the Walking Liberty Half and the Mercury Dime.
Marking the year the United States entered Word War II, this gem collection displays our nation's history through the numismatic eye in grades of only PF-65 and up.
