The 2015 March of Dimes Special Silver Set marked the first time, the U.S. Mint issued both a reverse proof silver dime from Philadelphia and a proof silver dime from West Point. These coins were only available in the special silver coin set commemorating the 75th anniversary of the March of Dimes. The set also includes a 2015 March of Dimes Proof Silver Dollar. All of the coins in this set were struck in .900 Silver. The product limit for the 2015 March of Dimes Special Silver Set was set at 75,000.
Both the dimes and the silver dollar feature portraits of the organization’s founder Franklin D. Roosevelt.
2015 Roosevelt Dime Designs
- The obverse design depicts a portrait of President Roosevelt. The inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “2015” and the respective mint mark (proof: W; reverse proof: P).
- The reverse design is a torch, an olive branch and an oak branch. The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “ONE DIME.”
2015 March of Dimes Silver Dollar Designs
- The obverse (heads) design represents the past depicting President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dr. Jonas Salk, two leaders in the fight against polio. The inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “2015.”
- The reverse (tails) design depicts a baby resting in the hand of a parent, representing the foundation’s dedication to the health of babies everywhere. The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “$1,” “MARCH OF DIMES” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”Read more...
