20 Coins are required to complete this set. Two of the coins, the 1927-D and 1927-S $20 gold pieces, are nearly impossible to obtain. NGC has slabbed only 5 1927-D coins, one AU-58 and 2 each MS-65 and MS-66. PCGS has slabbed 9 1927-D's, all grading MS-63 to MS-67. I wonder how many hands the lone AU-58 coin passed through before someone recognized they had a great rarity and removed it from circulation. Apparently nearly all the 1927-D coins were lost in the great melt of gold coins in the early 1930's. Not a single 1927-D coin was found in the hoards of gold coins recovered from European and South American banks.
