For the past 6 years (2005-2010) the mint released Satin Finish coins in the mint sets, and business strike coins were released separately through banks and direct ship US Mint sales. In 2011 the mint returned to releasing "business strike" coins in mint sets. Many very high grade mint set examples have been graded by NGC and PCGS, and this should be a good year to build a choice gem collection. I undertook this set with the addition of my first coin on 6/15/2011. This will be a fun set to develop over time and is my first "Mint Set" registry set.
My goal is to obtain the finest examples available for each of the 28 coins minted in 2011. While I may not be able to afford or obtain all top population coins, the challenge is still a fun one. So far I have been fortunate enough to obtain several top population coins. A few of these coins are also a part of my 21st Century Type Sets. However, others are place holders until I can find just the right upgrade.
