Large Cents are my favorite coins. I "fell in love" with them when in high school in the 1970s. After a 25 year hiatus, I resumed collecting them in 2004, and started this registry set.
The pursuit of these coins has been a balancing act with competing concerns: accumulating enough money; finding quality high grade coins; and impatience. In a few cases, impatience won.
My goals for this set are essentially complete. I'd like to have each coin be graded at least 65. Only the 1844 is below, at 64BN, and it's actually nicer than a few of the others. It did earn a CAC sticker. For 1844, gems are few and far between. Even the Naftzger collection had only one 65.
If a good opportunity to upgrade comes along, I might take it. But my plans are to start focusing on half dimes. But do not expect to see these coins at auction any time soon. I plan to hold and enjoy them for a good long time.
