It all started back in 1999 when the Statehood Quarters hit the streets. I was serving with the First Infantry Division, Big Red One, in Germany and was deployed to Kosovo. While in Kosovo i stopped at a small trailer used by our post exchange. I made a small purchase and received my change. In my hand I discovered a Pennsylvania quarter. At this time I had no idea that the U.S. Mint were going to make the Statehood Quarters. Being that Im from Pennsylvania, I kept that quarter in my wallet for years. Once I arrived back in the States I started to collect the Statehood quarters. At first I was scanning my pocket change, then I made the Quarter Mania purchase off of HSN. Following that I bought a custom set from HSN for my wife. A few months ago I started my mission collecting perfect specimens of the silver proofs. I have five more to go to complete this beautiful set.
