Over 2,100 PMG-certified Notes Being Offered in Trigometric Sale

The top note in the auction is a rarity from the former British colony that included Singapore.

More than 2,100 vintage and modern banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®), many from Southeast Asia, are featured in an upcoming Trigometric sale. Online bidding is now underway for all four sessions of the March 2022 Auction, which takes place March 28-31, 2022.

The top lot is a nearly century-old note from the Straits Settlements, the former British colony that included Singapore. The note shows King George V above a magnificent tiger. The Straits Settlements / British Administration 1925-27 100 Dollars graded PMG 30 Very Fine (Session 3, lot 3211) has an estimate of RM330,000 to RM360,000 (about $79,000 to $86,000).

Another 100 Dollar note from Southeast Asia is also in the spotlight: a Malaya & British Borneo 1953 100 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (Session 3, lot 3450). Showing an image of a young Queen Elizabeth II, the note has an estimate of RM90,000 to RM120,000 (about $21,500 to $28,700).

Other PMG-certified highlights in the auction include:

  • a group of five Straits Settlements ND (1931-35) 1 Dollar notes (four Front Progressive Proofs and one Back Proof) graded PMG 53 About Uncirculated to PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated (Session 3, lot 3247), with an estimate of RM180,000 to RM240,000 (about $43,000 to $57,000)
  • a group of nine Malaysia, Bank Negara notes (eight 2017 60 Ringgit commemoratives and one ND 1981-83 1 Ringgit) graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated to PMG 68 Superb Gem Unc EPQ (Session 3, lot 3578), with an estimate of RM95,000 - RM110,000 (about $22,700 to $26,300)
  • a Sarawak, Government of Sarawak 1937 10 Dollars graded PMG 58 Choice About Unc (Session 3, lot 3204), with an estimate of RM80,000 to RM100,000 (about $15,500 to $23,900)
  • a Malaya & British Borneo 1953 10 Dollars with a Solid-9 Serial Number graded PMG 30 Very Fine (Session 3, lot 3435), with an estimate of RM65,000 to RM80,000 (about $15,500 to $19,100)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1983-84) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 4, lot 4300), with an estimate of RM65,000 to RM80,000 (about $15,500 to $19,100)
  • a group of five Straits Settlements 1925-29 1 Dollar notes, all graded PMG 58 Choice About Unc (Session 3, lot 3229), with an estimate of RM50,000 to RM80,000 (about $11,900 to $19,100)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1976-81) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated (Session 4, lot 4133), with an estimate of RM50,000 to RM60,000 (about $11,900 to $14,300)
  • a group of 10 Malaya & British Borneo / British Administration 1959 1 Dollar notes with consecutive serial numbers, all graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated (Session 3, lot 3470), with an estimate of RM40,000 to RM60,000 (about $9,600 to $14,300)
  • a Straits Settlements 1915 100 Dollars Printer's Design graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated NET (Session 3, lot 3212), with an estimate of RM40,000 to RM50,000 (about $9,600 to $11,900)

  • a lot of six Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (2012) notes (1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Ringgits), each with the Binary Serial Number of AA0010000, graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated to PMG 67 Superb Gem Unc EPQ (Session 2, lot 2581), with an estimate of RM8,000 to RM10,000 (about $1,900 to $2,400)

  • a Great Britain 1901B Trade Dollar graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1010) with an estimate of RM2,400 to RM3,200 (about $570 to $760)
  • a China 1934 L&M-110 Junk Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1060) with an estimate of RM2,700 to RM3,200 (about $640 to $760)
