NGC Featured Registry Set: Gold Double Eagles
Posted on 3/8/2022
In light of our recent news article about the famous shipwreck, the SS Central America, the “Ship of Gold,” we would like to spotlight a lovely NGC Registry set of Gold $20 coins. The Liberty Head Double Eagles, 1850-1907, Mint State and Proof set is one of the most popular Double Eagle sets, and Love Libs reveals his passion for these popular coins in his That’s Gold, Jerry set.
With 229 participants, this set category is quite competitive, and climbing the ranks is no easy task. It requires a whopping 151 gold coins to complete this set, and to date, not one person has managed to assemble them all! Those who achieve a higher percentage are certainly to be admired, and Love Libs has managed to do so at 74% thus far.
There are a few other collectors with higher percentages, but we had to choose Love Libs for his sheer determination. Month by month, for almost two years now, he has been slowly building this collection, with recent upgrades just a few weeks ago. He currently sits in a lofty 5th place! Keep on shining, Love Libs! We love watching you climb that ladder to the top!
2022 is off to a flying start, and we look forward to the expansion of your set here, Love Libs, and of so many others! Thank you for your dedication to the NGC collecting community.

Perhaps, we will choose someone whose set has a personal story behind it or some interesting historical facts. We are looking for those sets where someone has taken the time to make the set unique and a reflection of his/her personal collecting style. It may be your set! Stay tuned.
