Greek Auction Offers Hundreds of NGC-certified Coins from Dozens of Countries

Nearly 300 world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are featured in A. Karamitsos’ Auction 986 Part A and Part B. Online bidding is already underway for the sale and concludes March 19-20, 2022.
Many of the coins are from Greece and Cyprus, with the top lot bring a Cypriot coin that features a portrait of Queen Victoria. Before Cyprus gained independence in 1960, the British had ruled the island for 82 years. The Cyprus 1885 ¼ Piastre graded NGC MS 61 BN (lot 6397) has a starting price of €1,500 (about $1,700).
Other NGC-certified highlights in the auction include:
- a Turkey AH1327//3 100 Kurush graded NGC MS 65 (lot 7122), with a starting price of €1,250 (about $1,400)
- a Cyprus 1879 1 Piastre graded NGC MS 64 BN (lot 6391), with a starting price of €950 (about $1,100)
- a Cyprus 1881 ¼ Piastre graded NGC MS 62 BN (lot 6393), with a starting price of €950 (about $1,100)
- a Cyprus 1887 1 Piastre graded NGC MS 64 BN (lot 6402), with a starting price of €900 (about $1,000)
- a Greece 1840 2 Lepta graded NGC AU 55 BN (lot 6061), with a starting price of €800 (about $900)
- a Cyprus 1887 ¼ Piastre NGC graded MS 64 RB (lot 6400), with a starting price of €600 (about $680)
- a Greece 1831 5 Lepta graded NGC AU 58 BN (lot 6027), with a starting price of €550 (about $625)
- a Greece 1855 ½ Drachma graded NGC UNC Details (lot 6076), with a starting price of €500 (about $570)
- an Ionian Islands 1857 30 Lepta graded NGC UNC Details (lot 6386), with a starting price of €450 (about $500)
- an Austria 1764 1 Taler graded NGC AU 58 (lot 6873), with a starting price of €450 (about $500)
