Elizabeth was born in 1926, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York. In a turn of events, her father ascended to the throne in 1936, granting her the new title of Princess Royal. She quickly took up public duties and even served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II. In 1947, Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten, Prince of Greece. When her father, King George VI, passed away in 1952, Elizabeth became Queen of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth realms.

Each obverse of the Platinum Jubilee coins features an elegant portrait of the Queen on horseback, which echoes the design of coins celebrating her 1953 coronation and 2002 Golden Jubilee. The reverses have one of three designs: a celebration “70”, a royal coat of arms or the Queen’s personal insignia.

In addition, a set of 13 historic coins is available that includes coinage that was issued throughout the Queen’s reign. The dates featured in the set are milestone years of the Queen’s legacy.

NGC’s Queen Elizabeth II special label and Great Britain special label are available for standard size holders; the Great Britain label is also available for Oversize holders. These NGC special labels are available by request for an additional fee to those submitting coins for NGC certification.
