NGC-certified and PMG-certified Rarities Showcased in December Sale

Hundreds of rare coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) and banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are showcased in a four-session Christmas sale presented by Antykwariat Numizmatyczny Michal Niemczyk. Online bidding is currently underway for the sale’s sessions, which end December 11-14, 2021.

One of the top lots in the sale is a rare coin that celebrates a city’s success in fending off a Swedish attack. A Poland 1629 Thorn Taler features the city amid flames, demonstrating its durability to withstand the siege. Graded NGC MS 62, this example is one out of two that shares the highest grade in the NGC Census. This rarity (session I, lot 445) has a starting price of 90,000 PLN (about $21,500).

Other NGC-certified highlights in the sale include:

• a Poland 1990MW Tadeusz Kosciuszko Gold 200,000 Zlotych graded NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo (session II, lot 2651), with a starting price of 35,000 PLN (about $8,500)
• a Poland 1934 Bronze Proba 5 Zlotych graded NGC MS 64 BN (session II, lot 2137), with a starting price of 20,000 PLN (about $4,860)
• a Poland 1928-dated Copper 2 Zlote graded NGC MS 63 BN (session II, 2145), with a starting price of 17,000 PLN (about $4,130)
• a Roman Empire Constantius II, AD 337-361 Gold Solidus graded NGC Ancients MS★, 5/5 Strike and 4/5 Surface (session III, lot 4291), with a starting price of 9,000 PLN (about $2,150)
• a Russia 1892 AT Rouble graded NGC MS 61 (session I, lot 1047), with a starting price of 4,000 PLN (about $960)

Meanwhile, the sale offers several banknotes, including a very rare Poland / Government-in-Exile World War II 1939 50 Zlotych graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated. Notes from this era were printed abroad after the Polish government leaders left the country for safety. When the war ended, most of the foreign-printed money was destroyed. This particular note (session II, lot 2892) has a starting price of 3,500 PLN (about $850 USD).

• a District of Columbia, Board of Public Works 1873 (Due 1876) $50 with 8% Interest Semi-Annually graded PMG 58 Choice About Unc (session III, lot 4048), with a starting price of 800 PLN (about $195)
